Inclusive and Accessible Smart Cities Through IoT and AI: The URBINFO Project
摘要
The rapid expansion of modern cities generates an enormous amount of data that is frequently underutilized. The URBINFO project aims to address this gap by establishing an integrated smart ecosystem that employs advanced technologies, such as smart sensor networks and artificial intelligence algorithms, to gather, analyze, and visualize real-time urban data. This comprehensive approach facilitates the monitoring and enhancement of various aspects of the urban environment, thereby substantially influencing quality of life, accessibility, and sustainability. The project emphasizes the principle of digital inclusion, ensuring that the information collected and processed within the urban setting is accessible to all residents and visitors, regardless of their qualifications, physical, or cognitive abilities. This paper presents the URBINFO project, its technological approach, and expected outcomes in developing more livable, inclusive, and sustainable cities. Furthermore, URBINFO aligns with prevailing smart city paradigms and incorporates principles of Ambient Assisted Living, GDPR compliance, and citizen science, thereby ensuring that technological innovations generate tangible benefits for all citizens. By integrating scalable Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) architectures with adaptable interfaces, the project exemplifies how urban data can serve as a catalyst for the development of inclusive, resilient, and sustainable smart cities.
