Sonification Technologies as a Support for the Improvement of Physical Activity for the Elderly
摘要
Physical activity is one of the most effective tools for promoting health and well-being in older adults. In particular, outdoor settings amplify these benefits by providing positive environmental stimuli and encouraging social integration. This research focuses on the potential of sonification—the transformation of movement data into auditory feedback—as a means to support outdoor physical activity, even in later life. Numerous studies suggest that auditory feedback, especially when corrective and motivational in nature, offers a range of benefits and actively contributes to enhancing body awareness, movement quality, user experience, and engagement in physical practice. Within this theoretical framework, an innovative project is presented that integrates outdoor physical activity, human movement sonification, and digital interaction within a shared environment designed to promote both physical and mental health. The aim is to develop an inclusive and accessible space, where technology not only supports movement practice but also fosters autonomy, active participation, and psychosocial well-being.
