Strategies for Mental Health and Wellness in Female Surgeons
摘要
This chapter explores the unique mental health challenges faced by female surgeons and proposes comprehensive strategies to enhance their well-being. The surgical profession’s culture of stoicism and high-pressure environment often leads to burnout, depression, and suicidal ideation, with female surgeons being particularly vulnerable due to systemic and societal stressors. The chapter highlights the importance of integrating emotional wellness strategies, such as reflective practices and peer support, into surgical training and professional practice. It also emphasizes the need for institutional reforms, including structured wellness programs, financial education, and mentorship networks, to create a supportive environment. By addressing physical health, emotional resilience, social connections, financial literacy, and mindfulness, the chapter provides a holistic approach to improving the mental health and career satisfaction of female surgeons. The ultimate goal is to foster a more inclusive and resilient surgical community that prioritizes the well-being of its members.
