摘要
Balancing the demands of surgical training and practice with the responsibilities of parenthood presents unique and complex challenges—particularly for women in surgery. This chapter explores the multifaceted realities of navigating motherhood in a field known for its intensity and inflexibility. From the fraught decision of and when to start to family, the physical toll of pregnancy in the operating room, and the logistical and emotional strain of arranging childcare while managing unpredictable schedules, women surgeons face pressures that require resilience and planning. However, carrying a dual identity is absolutely possible, and the fulfillment it brings is immeasurable.
