With rapid technological advancement, attacks and vulnerabilities in systems worldwide have proliferated. Therefore, this research evaluates the effectiveness of the Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) in detecting and responding to simulated threats. An applied research approach will be adopted, and tests will be conducted in a laboratory environment, and a report will be generated with the results obtained and relevant recommendations. This study seeks to provide a deeper understanding of NIDS performance in intrusion detection and its ability to counter intrusions. With the increasing sophistication of cyberattacks, it is crucial to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of security measures, such as NIDS, to ensure the protection of information systems.
