In this paper, we have designed a smart trash can that is able to provide us with information related to the different types of gases and also the filling status. Thanks to the integration of advanced sensors, automated control systems and a user-friendly interface, the trash can is no longer just a passive receptacle but also a real smart assistant, able to monitor its filling level, detect the presence of obstacles and even analyze the air quality. And finally the system blocks the trash can cover from opening as soon as the trash can reaches 99% full.
