This paper gives an overview of India’s progress towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. It also tries to examine the effectiveness of current government schemes, identify challenges such as policy gaps and regional inequalities, and highlight the differences in progress across states. Although India has implemented numerous national policies and programs aligned with the 17 SDGs, such as the Swachh Bharat Mission, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, its overall performance remains inadequate across several goals. Significant challenges include policy implementation gaps, inadequate infrastructure, socio-economic disparities, lack of reliable data, and environmental degradation. India’s SDG ranking has declined over the years, and significant progress is still required in goals related to hunger, health, gender equality, water and sanitation, and sustainable urban development. It suggests how India can improve and reach its targets by working better across government levels and with more support from all parts of society. This study explores existing efforts, identifies challenges, and suggests pathways to bridge these gaps to ensure inclusive and sustainable development by 2030.

摘要
