The AGI Research Field: Mapping Scientific Contributions and Global Trends
摘要
This study examines the current state of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) research, defined as the theoretical concept in which AI can perform any intellectual task as well as a human, without requiring predefined specific training or parameters. Given the emerging nature of the field, existing research is limited in identifying the main domains and potential future trends. To address this gap, a bibliometric analysis was conducted using the Web of Science database, retrieving 931 articles related to AGI. The data was analyzed through VOSviewer software, employing keyword co-occurrence and co- authorship by country analysis. The results reveal five major research clusters: Cognitive Computing, AI Consciousness and Ethics, Cognitive AI Systems, AI Neuroscience and Autonomous Learning. Furthermore, results show that the United States currently leads AGI research, but China’s increasing effort and work could bring a potential shift in global AI leadership in the future.
