Determinants of the Adoption of Mobile Applications for Financial Transactions in Young Peruvians Using UTAUT
摘要
This study aims to evaluate the factors that influence the intention to use mobile applications for financial transactions among young Peruvians, using the UTAUT model as a theoretical framework. A quantitative, correlational and explanatory approach was adopted on a sample of 206 young people aged 18 to 30, respondents at the end of 2024 in Tacna, Peru. The data were analysed using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that facilitating conditions have the greatest influence on intention to use with β = 0.265, followed by performance expectations with a value of β = 0.143 and social influence with β = 0.138. On the other hand, effort expectations have the least impact with a value of β = 0.078. In conclusion, strengthening the digital infrastructure, access to technical support and adequate institutional communication are key aspects in promoting the adoption of these applications among young people. From a theoretical point of view, the study extends the applicability of the UTAUT model by validating its usefulness in emerging market contexts, highlighting the importance of contextual conditions in technology adoption.
