Sustainable Systems Leadership in Water Challenges: A Virtual Exchange Between Students from Morocco and USA
摘要
The chapter examines water sustainability challenges as the foundation for a virtual exchange between university students in Morocco and the USA. A convenience sample of 11 US undergraduate students engaged in pre- and post-assessments, including the University of Florida International Critical Thinking (IntCRIT) survey and a questionnaire regarding systems thinking practices, as part of this case study. From the US student perspective, the virtual exchange merited statistically significant growth in their overall frequency of systems thinking practices (z = −2.045, p = 0.041). Qualitative analysis of shared session whiteboards, Zoom discussion transcriptions, and post-survey responses reflected participants’ value of the virtual exchange for gaining cultural and disciplinary perspectives in addressing systemic water challenges. Pedagogical use of sustainability case studies within virtual exchange merits further research for the development of sustainable systems leadership.
