The music theory, which was presented in the previous chapter dealt with musical objects, such as pitches, pitch classes, and note abstractions focusing on pitch and onset and duration. But in music, such abstractions are always referring to compositions. In this chapter, we want to construe the standard environment, where compositions are living, and where music theory applies, called the score. Be aware that this is still a musical reality, which is detached from performance in the physical reality; we shall deal with performance in the next part of this book.

摘要

The music theory, which was presented in the previous chapter dealt with musical objects, such as pitches, pitch classes, and note abstractions focusing on pitch and onset and duration. But in music, such abstractions are always referring to compositions. In this chapter, we want to construe the standard environment, where compositions are living, and where music theory applies, called the score. Be aware that this is still a musical reality, which is detached from performance in the physical reality; we shall deal with performance in the next part of this book.
