In this study, self-translation refers to practices in which the same person composes a work in one language and also translates it—in part or in whole, alone or with others—into another natural language. Self-translation has sometimes been discussed from a more metaphorical or less text-centred perspective, with a focus on the psychological, phenomenological or cultural effects of a self’s movement across geographic or linguistic zones, its ‘translation’.
