This paper explains some of the research programmes that have been created to explore the application of robotic systems in the nuclear sector. These programmes cover the development and deployment of robots in the nuclear fission and nuclear fusion industries. The importance and timeliness of this field is evident by the recent support which the nuclear industry have provided to set up the Robotics and AI Collaboration (RAICo) in Cumbria.
