Critical Review of Research and Policy on Transition to School from 2000 to 2024 in Greece
摘要
In Greece, the issue of transition has only recently become of interest to the educational community. The use of effective transition practices has a positive impact on children, both socially/emotionally and academically, and enhances their ability to face challenges in the future successfully. This chapter reviews research and educational policy published between 2000 and 2024 that refer to transition from kindergarten to primary school in the Greek educational system. The review concludes that cooperation between families, preschool, and school structures is necessary to ensure continuity, through the design of appropriate programs and the implementation of educational policy to facilitate the transition from preschool to school education. Since education is a universal right of every child, providing equal opportunities and high-quality education to all through transition programs with effective practices is a necessary obligation.
