The Language Landscape of a University as a Tool for Foreign Language Learning
摘要
Visual perception is one of the most effective and relevant aspects today. This is largely due to changes in both the methods of presenting information and its recipients. Accordingly, visual forms and symbols best correspond to the peculiarities of thinking of modern students. The visual language landscape of the university environment is an interesting object of study in the field of linguodidactics. The territory of international universities or institutes with a large number of foreign students usually represents a special unified linguistic educational space in which communication takes place. Being part of the academic environment, like educational programs, the language landscape is also aimed at achieving the desired language knowledge of students. Students immersed in the language culture of the university master the language faster and more effectively, understand and comprehend new foreign speech. This is especially effective for professional vocabulary. Visual perception of public written texts develops students’ visual memory, enriches their vocabulary, and expands their range of knowledge in the professional field.
