Clonidine Infusion Therapy
摘要
Clonidine, an αα-adrenergic imidazoline derivative, was developed in the 1960s to treat nasal congestion (Stähle, Best Pract Res Clin Anaesthesiol. 14:237–246, 2000). Researchers quickly discovered its decongestant properties were accompanied by significant hypotension and bradycardia (Stähle, Best Pract Res Clin Anaesthesiol. 14:237–246, 2000). Clonidine has been used extensively as an antihypertensive medication. More research on sympathetic α2 receptor agonism resulted in the FDA approving clonidine for many other indications, ranging from pain syndromes to sedation.
