TBLT: From a Critical Look to the Post-Critical Perspective
摘要
The book consists of two parts: the literature reviews and theoretical considerations (Part 1) as well as the research, with is specific aim, scope and methodology (Part 2). In such cases, it is important to stake the territory first: to define the status quo; and to declare the perspective based on which the considerations will be made. This is why Chap. 1 offers a look back, shortly describing the onset of TBLT and its mainstays as well as the ex-post evaluation of the approach. The keyword here is effectiveness, and after the initial study-based examination of the efficacy of task-based instruction, the present argument takes a turn. It hinges on the realization that effective has a meaning which goes beyond research data, and into the language classroom. Such a perspective is called, after Zahorik (1986), the art-and-craft conception of teaching. It is discussed and placed within a broader paradigm—that of a post-critical pedagogy.
