Overview of Techniques Used for the Formation of Nanoemulsions and Their Biotechnological Applications
摘要
In recent years, there has been growing interest in the development and implementation of novel approaches based on nanotechnology to enhance the quality of various products. Among the most significant innovations is the application of nanoemulsions, a technology characterized by multiple advantageous properties, including improved formulation, enhanced stability, and high compatibility with incorporated bioactive compounds. These attributes have demonstrated substantial potential for addressing diverse biotechnological demands. Nanoemulsions are thermodynamically unstable yet kinetically stable colloidal systems, consisting of the dispersion of one immiscible liquid phase into another, with droplet sizes in the nanometer range stabilized by surfactants. This structural configuration imparts unique properties, such as high bioavailability, efficient tissue penetration, and the capacity to protect active compounds from degradation. Their versatility has enabled their application across various industrial sectors. Consequently, nanoemulsions represent a promising technological advancement in the development of advanced solutions for medical, pharmaceutical, and food-related challenges within modern biotechnology. This study aims to analyze the different techniques employed in the preparation of nanoemulsions, as well as their roles in industries such as food and pharmaceuticals.
