AI Agent for Intelligent Tutoring in Natural Science Teaching

The increasing integration of digital technologies in education has highlighted the importance of developing innovative tools that can respond to diverse needs. Natural SciencesNatural sciences education continues to face challenges, as many learners struggle to grasp abstract concepts, maintain engagement, and connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications. This situation calls for adaptive solutions that support teachers and foster meaningful learning experiences. This systematic literature review the development of intelligent tutoring systemsIntelligent tutoring systems in recent years. These systems offer personalized learningPersonalized learning experiences, adapting to the pace, learning style, and needs of each student. The use of artificial intelligenceArtificial intelligence in different learning environments and settings has improved feedback and tutoring processes, optimizing academic monitoringMonitoring and facilitating pedagogical decision-making. The methodology applied was a documentary, through a systematic review that identified the technologies, methodologies, and teaching strategies employed when applying artificial intelligence to the teaching process of Natural Sciences. In this context, this research focuses on the development of a conversational artificial intelligenceArtificial intelligence agent for teaching Natural Sciences in the tenth year of Basic Education in the province of Carchi. The proposal includes architecture based on three modules: communication (via a web and mobile interface), processing (which incorporates tokenization techniques, semantic embeddings, and response generation with natural language models) and a knowledge base composed of curricular content, case studies, and teaching strategies. Preliminary results demonstrate the agent’s ability to interpret student questions, retrieve relevant information, and generate contextualized responses to Natural SciencesNatural sciences, contributing to the improvement of digital interactivity and educational sustainability.
