Using the Sentinel 2 A multispectral data setsMultispectral data sets of the region, the coral reefsCoral reefs of the Bay of BengalBay of Bengal fringe shores and the Andaman SeaAndaman Sea fringe shores are represented for the islands of the South Andaman group. The reef sedimentary landforms are well classified with the satellite data to identify their physiographic diversityPhysiographic diversity and the status of the coral fringe islands. The chapter also represents the function of the fringe coralsFringe corals as ‘carbonate factoryCarbonate factory’ in the production and supply of sediments to the shore platforms by considering the energy dimensions of the windward and leeward sidesLeeward sides of the island groups. The shore platform morphodynamicsMorphodynamics are run by coastal cell circulation with a supply of carbonate sedimentsCarbonate sediments and their transportation paths from sources to sinks to produce the feedback mechanisms (both positive and negative) in the island fringe morphology. A few islands are well studied in this regard by monitoring geomorphology along the shore platforms. Various karstification processes are documented in the carbonate platforms to highlight the regional development diversity of karstic landforms. The role of sediment supply in island fringe progradation is also recorded in this chapter.
