As the world becomes increasingly globalised and interconnected, efforts to stem and control the flow of refugees to the Global North have led to new practices of bordering. A multiplicity of bordering practices now governs and shapes the lives of millions of refugees around the world. This chapter explores one specific contour of this—the work of refugee teachers—and locates this within the international political economy of refugee education created by bordering regimes and the subsequent precarity it creates. As the chapter argues, this is not an accident, but rather emblematic of how global capitalism operates and functions today as a new project of conquest for the Global North. In doing so, the aim is to challenge the separation of education provision for refugee and displaced children in non-Western contexts from that of the West, and rather, to suggest how such provision is intricately shaped by the interests, agendas, and actions of the West, or Global North.

摘要
