Maximum Jews on Maximum Land?
摘要
Jewishness and militarism are key to Israel’s self-image. This chapter explores how Jewish nationalism drives foreign policy attitudes in Israel. Jewish nationalism is linked to maximal land claims and oppression of Palestinians. However, Jewish nationalists are less likely to endorse conscription, especially of the ultra-Orthodox community. Thus, although the military is a secular institution, it can become implicated in the religious nationalist agenda.
