Israel presents itself as a Jewish state and a democracy (in that order). However, these goals can be in conflict. Jewish nationalists are more likely to emphasize majoritarianism than individual rights. They are also more open to non-democratic governance. While Jewish nationalists are more likely to believe the state can support religion and democracy, where they are in conflict, the Jewish nationalists are more willing to prioritize religion.
