The family initially faced significant hostility, leading to their social isolation and near disintegration. Dr. Seyolo’s medical practice was boycotted, compelling him to seek alternative work as a farmhand to support his family. The turning point emerged through his children’s accomplishments at school, which ultimately facilitated the family’s social acceptance and integration. The African Doctor illustrates the corrosive effects of deep-seated prejudice.
