Within Information Technology several areas are emerging and out of them Internet of Things (IoT) considered as important for gathering data from diverse areas to make intelligent systems. The application of Internet of Things is increasing rapidly in diverse areas viz. residence, education, transportation, governance, healthcare, business and commerce, and so on. The continuous growth of IoT in social sector developed new domain called Social Internet of Things (SIoT). The sub domain SIoT is engaged in collecting, integrating and managing data for the social activities, purposes and systems. SIoT is the combination of the IoT and Social Networking using internet services and IoT based mechanism. This is responsible in navigation of dynamic network of billion objects. There are so many societal arena in which large amount of data are generated, processed and managed viz. social data of healthcare, social data of transportation, social public administration, smart city and smart business houses, etc. SIoT is become an emerging topic and transformative leap for merger of networked devices and social networking principles. This chapter is focused on SIoT such as features, functions, applications, and emerging techniques and technologies. This chapter has also discussed about the structure and components of the SIoT.
