Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy and OSA Surgery
摘要
Myofunctional therapy is gaining widespread acceptance within specialist clinical teams, where they value myofunctional therapy as a safe and accessible method with good myofunctional results in patients undergoing sleep surgery. In this chapter, we will find the medical-surgical perspective on its various forms of intervention in the medical field, where ENT sleep specialists, along with the rehabilitation approach associated with speech therapists with expertise in dysphagia and orofacial motor skills, will be able to address the necessary functional anatomy and solutions for snoring patients with OSA undergoing surgery. We will understand the limitations, such as short-term consequences in patients undergoing sleep surgery, and considerations after this surgical process regarding feeding, swallowing, tongue movement, and muscle tone.
