Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a highly prevalent sleep disorder; however, it remains underdiagnosed and undertreated. Although polysomnography is the gold standard for diagnosing the presence and severity of obstructive sleep apnea, it is expensive and not always easily accessible. The use of brief, simple, and accurate tools can assist in the early detection of obstructive sleep apnea. Questionnaires for sleep disorders can help identify appropriate candidates for polysomnography, while new simplified devices can facilitate the detection of this widespread condition.
