Rheumatoid Arthritis Assessment
摘要
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune systemic inflammatory disease characterized by persistent symmetric synovial proliferation and tenderness of multiple joints. Pharmacists can play an important role in the management of patients with RA, through the assessment of medication effectiveness, adverse effects, and potential drug interactions. Collaborating with both the patient’s primary care provider and rheumatologist, the pharmacist can improve the patient’s adherence to therapy by helping them understand the value of disease-modifying antirheumatic therapy in preventing long-term complications of RA, suggesting strategies to reduce adverse effects, and confirming the appropriateness of concomitant use of other medications, natural health products, and vaccines.
