Organoids for Modeling Skin and Hair Pigmentation
摘要
For decades developing and advancing an accurate structural model of human skin is a significant goal for researchers. Skin is the outermost barrier, what shields us, a displayer to the outside world. Pathophysiology and management of skin diseases, investigating aging processes and cosmetic interventions, are some of the main ideals of dermatology. Organoid technology has come to the scene as the latest aspiring tool in dermatological research. Here, we collected a panel of papers for understanding the purposes of skin organoid technology on hair and skin pigmentation and their other applications in regenerative and reconstructive medicine, cancer research, and therapeutical advancements. This chapter coalesced both skin and hair follicle organoids studies by mainly focusing on recent publications for possible applications. Overall, this chapter discussed the usage of skin and hair follicle organoids, mainly on pigmentation, additionally on disease modeling, wound healing, enhancement of treatment options while exploring the future aspects, possible areas to expand.
