Cybersecurity, a Pending Issue in Ecuadorian Journalism
摘要
Cybersecurity in journalism is established for the protection of information, the safeguarding of sources and digital and physical protection. The implementation of these processes in Ecuador is still deficient and journalism is a proactive agent in cyberspace, therefore, digital security becomes one of the guarantees of freedom of expression, access to information and protection of private data. Digitization sets the tone for being on the brink of digital chaos or moving to a state of permanent alertness. The study focuses on two objectives: to know what tools and procedures are applied by journalists for the protection of personal data and sensitive documents, and to evaluate the strategies applied for the safeguarding and protection of data, reinforcing security against malicious intrusions at both hardware and software levels. A mixed methodology is applied, with surveys to journalists and semi-structured interviews to experts.
