Co-Constructing Data Mining Tools for Cultural Analysis: Reflections from a Peripheral Context
摘要
This paper is based on an action research project focused on implementing a data mining system within the domain of cultural production and consumption. It provides significant insights into the design of data mining tools, algorithms, and intelligent systems, emphasizing the importance of co-construction spaces and their interaction with socio-technical contexts, user activities, and the dynamic flow of information in the digital sphere. The findings of this study highlight the importance of end users, their practices, and objectives being incorporated into the initial stages of development. The text goes on to underline the significance of cognitive alignment among stakeholders in guiding the implementation of such technologies from an anthropocentric perspective. Moreover, we reflect on the challenges of developing these systems in peripheral regions such as Latin America, while stressing the value of building locally relevant technologies and datasets derived from the digital public sphere to support researchers.
