Flexible Technological Process Planning: Discussion Towards Flexible Process Structure Planning and Artificial Intelligence Utilization

This conceptual paper focuses on technological process planning and discusses the necessity of changing selected paradigms and approaches regarding modern technological processes. The study proposes a concept towards developing step-based technological process structures (a nomenclature-design concept focused on flexible structure design) and discusses its characteristics. In addition, the study presents how large language model (LLM) of the artificial intelligence (AI) can be utilized within the work of process planners in manufacturing firms. This is presented by using selected examples. The presented analysis indicates that the proposed structure design can be adapted to various production branches and manufacturing techniques and is open for branch-related adjustments. Moreover, in the case of presented AI applications, the study demonstrates the areas of usefulness of Python-based technological process development.
