The research is aimed at identifying the code of vitality as one of the cultural codes that reflects perceptions of living beings and their characteristics in language and cultureCulture. Attention to vitality is determined by its universal nature and correlates with ancient archetypal representations of the world, serving as the foundation of ideological systems among the peoples of Northern EurasiaEurasia. The role of the vitality codeVitality code lies in shaping the worldview and structuring cultural knowledge. The working hypothesis of the study focuses on identifying common and distinctive features of body modifications among ethnic groups with similar population genesis currently residing in the ArcticArctic zone. Body modifications (tattoos, piercings, etc.) are considered as a means of self-identification and a form of group affiliation (in this case, an ethnic group). The study employs ethnographic, archaeological, paleo-historical, folkloric materials, and contemporary data, including results from genetic studies of modern northern ethnic groups that maintain their traditional way of life and inhabit the territory of ancient Beringia. The methodology of the research is based on a formalized approach and cross-cultural analysisAnalysis of evidence of similarities or differences in cultural phenomena (in this case, tattoos), combined with a comparative analysis of DNA data and generalized information about the genetic structure of populations. The components of the ornament are stable, although their meaning may vary depending on personal preferences, national traditions, or the style of a historical era. Based on the results obtained, it can be said that there are universals and specificities in the interpretation of the vitality codeVitality code among various peoples throughout the historical and cultural development of Northern EurasiaEurasia. However, some genetically related peoples demonstrate similarities in body tattoos as a means of expressing cultural identityIdentity. The results of the study may be useful to regional studies experts, cultural scholars, art historians, and specialists in the fields of social and cultural geographyCultural geography.
