Assimilation Level of the Polish-Lithuanian and Estonian Tatars: Comparative Analysis

This paper aims to explore the assimilationAssimilation levels of Polish-Lithuanian and Estonian TatarsTatars, two distinct groups of Muslim communities within the sub-regions of Eastern Europe. The Tatars of Eastern Europe incarnate unique example of cultural and historical identityIdentity on the territory of LithuaniaLithuania, PolandPoland, and EstoniaEstonia. The historical trajectories, cultural identities, and sociopolitical contexts surrounding both groups offer a fascinating lens through which to evaluate their respective assimilation processes. By employing qualitative and quantitative data, we reveal that the assimilation processes among TatarsTatars differ significantly between these two regions, shaped by historical legacies and contemporary societal dynamics. By examining demographic trends, language proficiency, cultural retention, and socioeconomic integrationIntegration, this study provides insight into the factors influencing these communities’ assimilation and highlights the implications for their cultural viability in contemporary society.
