This chapter re-evaluates dominant theoretical discourses in photography by shifting the focus from the photograph to photographic practice. Drawing on thinkers such as Barthes, Burgin, Barad, and Butler, it critiques image-centric paradigms and explores the conceptual interplay between poiesis (making) and praxis (doing). The chapter argues for a performative and materialist understanding of photographic practice, calling for attention to the often-overlooked latent practices of photographic production.
