Use of Polyethylene Foam in Beekeeping
摘要
In May 2024, I began experiments in Kamchatka on the use of foamed polyethylene for making beehives. During this time, foamed polyethylene has proven itself very well in my experiments in beekeeping. This material is environmentally friendly, warm, light, inexpensive, accessible and impact-resistant. As experiments have shown, bees do not gnaw foamed polyethylene and mold does not form on the material even during the long Kamchatka winter. Bees develop very well in a hive made of foamed polyethylene. The paper provides examples of hives used for experiments, the results of experiments, and also provides examples of the use of foamed polyethylene as insert frames and for insulating hives in winter.
