An Introduction to Green Finance and the Linked Consulting Services
摘要
Green Finance, as a distinct subset of Sustainable Finance, encompasses financial activities that explicitly integrate environmental considerations into investment and funding decisions. It represents the intersection of finance, investment, and environmental stewardship, aiming to redirect economic development toward a low-carbon, resource-efficient, and climate-resilient trajectory. Achieving this objective requires the financial system to be actively aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Among the key instruments of green finance are labelled bonds, including Green Bonds, Climate Bonds, and other sustainability-linked debt products. These instruments play a critical role in mobilizing capital for environmentally and socially beneficial projects. To ensure credibility, transparency, and accountability, such financial products must clearly define their intended contribution to sustainability objectives and disclose measurable impacts. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the end-to-end process of issuing a sustainable bond, from initial structuring to post-issuance reporting. It highlights the strategic role of sustainability strategy consultants in supporting clients throughout this journey, helping them design robust sustainable bond frameworks, ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, and implement effective impact measurement and disclosure practices. A description of the Sustainable Bond Market is also provided with presentation of case studies.
