The research is significant from the sense of artificial intelligence applications increasing in importance and sparking the interest of correspondents and staff in the Iraqi satellite channels. This paper investigates how correspondents working in such channels take advantage of AI-driven applications in order to facilitate their performance of field journalism in two main aspects, speeding up the gathering of information and ensuring its accuracy. It also aims to trace the specific advantages of those applications in accelerating and improving news gathering and data analysis. A descriptive analytical method has been used based on purposeful sample of 200 correspondents and newsroom staff in the Iraqi satellite channels were surveyed. Findings showed that the application of artificial intelligent techniques had a significant effect on accelerating the information gathering and editing activities of correspondents. However, the survey also revealed that many respondents experience challenges using such tools, due to lack of training or technical support and to their inability to afford annual subscriptions given meager wages. According to the findings, the study provided list of recommendations, the key among these is the importance of training correspondents to continuously learn and understand the effective use of AI applications to take full advantage of these technologies. It recommended to upgrade the Iraqi channel’s technical capability too, particularly concerning artificial intelligence, to maximize its benefit.
