The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Targeting Youth with Job Advertisements on Professional Digital Platforms: LinkedIn as a Case Study
摘要
This paper examines the use of AI to target youth in job ads on LinkedIn, the world’s largest online professional network. Drawing on a descriptive approach and surveying 150 active users, it examines AI-driven algorithms that customize job offers to the qualifications, skills, and platform interactions of users. The results indicate that AI assists in matching product ads to users’ professions and that most participants agree with the relevance of the recommended positions. User targeting is based on factors like education, professional experience, as well as user engagement patterns. But several obstacles were also highlighted—namely the number of fake job ads, and the lack of cross-border opportunities. A more recent study also shows that users are motivated by AI-suggestions to train more and to learn more about the language on a general level. These findings highlight the rising impact of AI technology on digital labor ecosystems, and the importance of increasing trust, transparency and global inclusivity in AI systems. Finally, the paper provides the practical implications and future directions for enhancing the accuracy and validity of AI in digital job matching.
