Behavioral Interventions for Health Behaviors in Primary Care
摘要
Individuals with chronic health conditions experience poorer overall health than those without. These conditions are prevalent in the United States, with six in ten adults having at least one chronic disease (Buttorff et al., 2017). This chapter outlines essential skills primary care physicians (PCPs) can utilize when managing chronic health conditions including addressing biopsychosocial factors, a 5A framework for visits, contextual interviewing, utilizing stages of change, and skills to help with treatment adherence. In addition to these global skills, this chapter provides condition specific behavioral interventions for chronic health conditions, including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, insomnia, gastrointestinal disorders, pain, sexual dysfunction, obesity, and cancer.
