Care of metastatic bone disease (MBD) requires multiple disciplines. The importance of coordinated care for MBD patients is underscored by the frequent, variable, and often high morbidity associated with this prevalent site of metastatic disease. There are numerous opportunities to improve care. First, a multidisciplinary approach analogous to tumor boards more commonly seen for sarcomas may benefit these patients. Utilization of online resources may improve outreach for the care of MBD patients in underserved areas. By employing big data and machine learning, we may improve our understanding of the clinical problems that arise secondary to MBD and derive appropriate data-supported clinical practice guidelines and algorithms. The necessary big data would be improved by more coordinated participation in international registries. Finally, exploiting the benefits of artificial intelligence may be applicable to many areas of MBD patient care. The future holds great promise for improvement in multidisciplinary care of MBD.
