Overview of Musculoskeletal Metastases
摘要
As oncologic patients are living longer, metastatic disease, especially in the musculoskeletal system, remains a major challenge, affecting patient well-being and requiring improved treatment and prevention strategies. Common cancers such as those of the lung, breast, and prostate have a high propensity to metastasize to bone due to its rich microenvironment. Early detection through a variety of imaging techniques and conservative or surgical treatment by a multidisciplinary team of providers is necessary to prevent or address skeletal-related events (SREs) caused by musculoskeletal metastases.
