摘要

A deeper mutual understanding between Ocean Literacy (OL) and the finance sector is essential for achieving both environmental sustainability and economic prosperity. Recognising Ocean health as a foundation for sustainable economic growth enables financial decision-makers to better align economic objectives with environmental responsibility. This chapter examines the economic contributions and environmental challenges faced by Ocean-dependent sectors such as shipping, tourism, fisheries, and Ocean energy, and addresses the financial risks associated with declining Ocean health. It explores emerging investment mechanisms, including venture capital, blue bonds, and blended finance, and draws attention to the persistent funding gap in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 14: Life Below Water. Collaborative approaches, including public-private partnerships, are highlighted as essential strategies. The chapter positions Ocean Literacy as a critical tool for guiding sustainable investment, fostering dialogue between the financial and Ocean communities, and advancing a resilient and thriving Blue Economy.
