Aristada Initio® is not a long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotic, but rather a strategy to avoid the required 21-day oral overlap when initiating Aristada®. When Aristada Initio® is prescribed at the time of initiation of Aristada®, plasma aripiprazole levels rise rapidly during the first week after injection and peak at approximately 3–4 weeks (Jain et al., CNS Spectr 25:323–330, 2020). This chapter provides clinical pearls on how to appropriately prescribe and administer Aristada Initio®.
