In Spain there are numerous concrete structures designed for the requirements of exposure to the marine environment that have had sever corrosion problems in the steel reinforcement at early ages, resulting in a much lower durability than expected. The use of unconventional non-corrosive reinforcements such us glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebars could prove particularly efficient, even in the short term, both economically and environmentally. There is no great experience of its use in Spain but there are already experiences in port works that are helping in the research and knowledge of the characteristics of the material in the short and long term and in the dissemination of its knowledge so that it is a real alternative to be considered in fields associated with the issue of chloride corrosion. This article aims to present these experiences and the results of their study.

摘要
