The german guideline “Concrete members with non-metallic reinforcement”, prepared by the subcommittee “Non-metallic reinforcement” of German Committee for Structural Concrete (DAfStb), was published in January 2024. The rules documented there are the result of many years of research and practical experience and represent the state of knowledge in Germany in this area very well. This set of rules makes it considerably easier to build with non-metallic reinforcement in the form of bars or grids in Germany and seeks to catch up with standards that have existed internationally for years (e.g. in the USA, Canada, Japan, Italy). The five parts of the guideline cover the design, reinforcement, test methods and rules for execution as well as verifications of the usability of the reinforcement. This paper presents the DAfStb guideline with focus on the most relevant design clauses and the differences to members of steel-reinforced concrete. It also gives an insight into the DAfStb bulletin 660, which has been developed in parallel and provides further background information on the guideline and simple calculation examples. The text concludes with an outlook on the continuation of the subcommittee’s work, which will lead to an improved second version of the guideline that resolves challenges that occurred during implementation and expands its application range. It is expected to be published together with the German National Annex to the new generation of Eurocode 2.

摘要
