Biochemical Analysis of Allergenic Desmostachya Bipinnata (Linn.) Stapf. Grass Pollen by Using SDS-PAGE Technique
摘要
Grass pollen allergy has been reported in various part of the world. Grass pollen grains are anemophilic and easily carried away by the wind. The presented study was aimed to identify the allergenic potential and chemical constitutions of Desmostachya bipinnata pollen grains. Chemical constituents were analyzed by using quantitative assessment of Carbohydrates, Reducing sugars, Phenols, Proteins, and Amino acids. Our results revealed that pollen of Desmostachya bipinnata Proteins were 20.93 mg/g, Amino Acids 4.32 mg/g, Carbohydrate 38.27 mg/g, reducing sugar 5.51 mg/g, and Phenols 1.10 mg/g in pollen. SDS-PAGE analysis of Desmostachya bipinnata pollen showed the presence of protein bands with range 23–72 kD. Two bands 50 kDa and 60 kDa were more prominent. The protein bands with molecular weights were 23, 28, 30, 37, 40, 50, 60, 68 and 72 kDa. The detection of low molecular weight proteins in the pollen sample confirms the allergenic potential of the grass Desmostachya bipinnata.
