Cosmetics are an ancient culture that enhances appearance. In the past, it was limited to the queens of higher-classified women. But now it is available to all, and people also started using cosmetics in their daily lives, which is a great revolution for the cosmetics industry. Cosmetics are usually made of a mixture of various organic or inorganic compounds. Now, the cosmetics industries are focusing on premium organic ingredients with relevant bioactive qualities, including the ability to fight inflammation, aging, wrinkles, and pigmentation. They also have antioxidant and anti-collagenase qualities. There are some fungi-derived molecules found in nature that affect cosmetic products’ efficiency. This review focuses on a few fungus-based cosmeceuticals, which offer information on their synthesis, mode of action, efficacy, safety, and possible effects on the cosmetics industry.
