A growing trend in the skincare and cosmetics industry is the use of fungi’s beneficial properties, like antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, to create cosmetics (Sułkowska-Ziaja, Trepa et al. 2023). This chapter looks at how fungal-based cosmetics are made, used, and applied. We start off by talking about the opportunities and difficulties associated with using fungi in cosmetics. Subsequently, the examination explores distinct elements and extracts from a range of mushrooms, emphasizing their possible role in hair, skincare, and general health. The transformative effects of fungal-based cosmetics on skin health are highlighted in this chapter. These effects range from improving moisture retention to offering anti-aging benefits like lifting and firming. We also looked into the intriguing skin-whitening properties of extracts from fungi. Examined is the diverse range of uses for fungal-based cosmetics in haircare, demonstrating their ability to revitalize and enhance hair health while addressing several issues.
