This chapter examines the development of creative individuals from two complementary and interconnected perspectives: an individual differences perspective, focusing on the psychological and environmental factors that shape creativity, and a socio-cognitive approach, highlighting the dynamic relationship between the individual and their social environment. It first discusses developmental trends in creativity, with particular attention to how the school environment influences creativity through shaping its cognitive, conative, and emotional resources. The developmental asynchrony of these resources is then discussed, along with the challenges of converting creative potential into creative achievements. Finally, after reviewing early humanistic theories that link creativity and self-actualization, the chapter elucidates how identity development resembles a creative process on which individuals have agency. By doing so, the dynamic interplay between creativity and identity development is discussed, highlighting critical aspects of creativity that influence identity formation. Illustrations from the life of Charles Darwin punctuate the various themes discussed in the chapter.

摘要
